10 years ago my friend Oscar tried the original Push but it didn’t gel with him. So it ended up on his shelf.
But now Oscar has a run of live shows coming up overseas and his big modular synthesiser isn’t exactly practical for airplane travel.
This got Oscar wondering if he couldn’t build a live set around Push 3 which could scratch the same itch. Still allow him to improvise, perform sound design, and be easily transportable.
Then he remembered he was friends with a Push expert who also lives in Brussels (me 🙂).
So recently I met up with him to show him the light. How Push 3 could solve his problem? We ended up recording the whole thing for his YouTube channel, Underdog Electronic Music School.
Watch the video below where I show Oscar what Push 3 can really do:
Ableton Push master teaches me his ways (feat. Andri Søren)
From my experience Push is the fastest idea-generator I've ever used. It’s an incredible sketch pad. A way for you to be able to touch Ableton physically. And whether you’re using it to produce or perform live it keeps you in the music and out of the menus.
Over the years I built my own unique Push live set up which allows you to get straight into flow from the moment you sit down. More on that below if you’re interested.
Warm regards,
Andri
P.S. In the video I show Oscar PLAYGRND. My live set, built around everything I always wanted from Push but couldn't find anywhere else. 1,000+ sounds, eight tracks, a beast of a drum kit DR1 with per-pad sends and returns. If it catches your eye you can check it out here: PLAYGRND
